Religion and World Views
Religious Education, through the Northamptonshire Agreed Syllabus, allows pupils to explore the rich diversity of religious and non-religious worldviews and the ways people make sense of the world.
The curriculum is designed around three disciplinary lenses: Theology, Social Sciences and Philosophy. This provides children with a well-rounded and balanced curriculum, enabling them to develop knowledge, curiosity and critical thinking.
Through Religion and World Views lessons, we aim to encourage pupils to grow both individually and together, developing sensitivity and respect towards people of all faiths and beliefs. Our key threads of Diversity, Exploration and Oracy run throughout our curriculum, encouraging children to understand different perspectives, ask thoughtful questions and express their ideas respectfully.
By the end of Key Stage 2, pupils will have studied the major religions of Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Hinduism, alongside the secular worldview of Humanism. Where possible, pupils also experience religion beyond the classroom through visits to places of worship, helping them connect their learning with lived experience.
Parents and carers have the right to request that their child is withdrawn from Religion and World Views lessons.
